MINIMUM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR WASHINGTON STATE

NOTE: This training must be completed at an authorized school or employer who is approved by WA DOL and has access to DOL's online portal.

Class A

Washington State Requires

Completion of A Minimum of

160 Training Hours Before 

You Can Take Your Class A

CDL Skills Test.

18 hours - Driving

16 hours - Backing

16 hours - Proficiency

70 hours - Combined lab/range training & observation

40 hours - Classroom 

14 hours - Driving

8 hours - Backing

8 hours - Proficiency development

 

10 hours - Combined lab/range training & observation

Requires The Completion

of A Minimum of

80 Training Hours Before 

You Can Take Your Class B

CDL Skills Test.

Passenger

(endorsement onto current CDL)

Washington State Requires

Completion of A Minimum of

14 Training Hours Before 

You Can Take Your Passenger

CDL Skills Test, and 30 hours 

for Passenger & School Bus
