You must have a CDL to drive

the following vehicles:

• Single vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more.

​​

• Trailers with a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more, and a combined vehicles' GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more.

​​

• Vehicles designed to transport 16 or more persons (including the driver). Including private and church buses.

​​

• School buses, regardless of size.

​​

• Any vehicle used to transport material that requires hazardous material placarding
